The Apple Prize for the scientist who most inspired the students, was awarded to Ross Thompson from Monash University who spoke on "Food webs in space and time".


 Student Award Winners

ASL award for best Honours presentation

Rose Barrett from La Trobe University who spoke on "The relationship between vegetation, water regiems and wetland type in wetlands of the Murray River floodplain".
Honourable mentions to Naomi Kerp from Murdoch University and Michael Peat from University of Canberra.
Special mention to Danielle Smith from La Trobe University for an extraordinary talk by an undergraduate student doing a summer scholarship project at MDFRC.

ASL award for best Masters/PhD presentation

Sarah Mika from University of New England who spoke on "Buried wood: An experiment integrating fine-scale geomorphic, chemical and algal responses to logs spanning riffle zones in the Hunter and Williams Rivers, NSW".

to Suzanne McDonald from Charles Sturt University and Rebecca Lester from Monash University.

NSW Murray Wetlands Working Group student prize for best Wetlands presentation

Bea Sommer from Edith Cowan University who spoke on "Drying and re-wetting of organic wetland sediments: geochemistry and implications for wetland management".

Society for Conservation Biology student prize for best Conservation presentation

Tanya Rankin from University of Sydney who presented "Diet and dietary selectivity of the platypus in relation to season and macroinvertebrate assemblages".
